    3D Print Settings!

    in Support

    Hello Everyone!

I am working on printing my own Ray gun, and I'm running into issues with parts not fitting because the holes are too small or the parts are too big and not sliding together properly. Anyone have any suggestions on print settings, nozzle side, etc.? Please let me know, thank you!

It sounds to me like your printer is over-extruding. This could be fixed by lowering the extrusion multiplier in your slicing software. Try printing XYZ calibration cubes with incrementally lower extrusion multipliers and measure the X and Y dimensions using calipers until the dimension printed matches the model.

@Andrew I will try it next time I print with the .4 nozzle. Ive been printing my new version of the raygun with a .25 nozzle with no issues now cuz the walls are thinner and the model is higher quality so there have been no issues. I appreciate the help man. If I knew you had printed that all in .4 before I started I would have tried more to figure it out. I'll switch back to it once I print the silver pieces since I'll be using protopasta composite steel. I'm going for a different look with it but thank you!

Ender 3 pro. I found switching to a smaller nozzle is now allowing parts to fit together, but on my original prints, all on .4, the barrel assembly wasn't fitting together at all, had to sand most connections to make them fit. That was really it. Im having better luck now. I asked before I pulled the trigger on some hardened steel nozzles. Having better luck now, but wanted to know since no one else on here had asked it seemed

This was designed and printed for the tolerances of a Prusa MK2S with a 0.4mm nozzle, but has been successfully printed on various other machines. What printer are you using? What parts specifically aren't fitting together?
