Hello,
Gotta say, lovely project! I just finished wiring up everything only to find I ordered the wrong type of 3.7 500mA battery from amazon instead of adafruit. Just waiting for the right one to come into stock again.
I just plugged my Ray gun into my computer just to see if I can get the Raygun to play sounds and light up without the battery and when I turn it on all it seems to do is the battery is churping when the trigger is squeezed or its just idling. The green light is on perfectly fine but the neopixels do not light. Its just the frequency of the speaker churping changes when the barrel is open/closed and if the trigger is pulled.
Why in the world would this happen and how can I fix it?
Thanks
Fair enough! I sincerely appreciate the help!
keep up the great work on further projects and I cant wait to post the results!
Thank you for the quick reply!
here is the amazon link. it looks similar! but not quite I dont think
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TXLKGLW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And thats a sigh of relief! I will give that a go and see what happends! Atleast Now I have some options rather it be waiting for the correct battery, flipping the polarity of the current battery or otherwise
:)!!!!!
Can you send me a link to the battery that isn't working for you? I saw some comments on Amazon when I was trying to source batteries that said the red and black leads are flipped on some 3rd party batteries.
Believe it or not, the chirping is a good sign because that happens to me too! The reason why the LEDs and the speaker aren't working when you plug into the computer is because all of those components are wired to BAT. If there is no battery plugged in, no voltage is routed to BAT. Try moving the power wire from BAT to USB and see if everything works when you plug it in.
