    Raygun Magnets

    in Support

Hey everyone, it feels good to be here again! Though I'm here to address an issue I've been having recently with my Raygun. Lately, the magnets that hold both ends of the barrel together have been popping out, like, entirely. I've tried a couple of gluing methods, and my curiosity ended up ruining a bit of red plastic (sorry, Andrew). So I'm hoping anyone here has some smart and beneficial alternative to making sure these bad boys stay in their place. Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas that have worked for you!!!

(And for anyone curious for whatever reason, I own prebuilt replica #7!)

The magnets on your version of the prop are super strong. While this has never happened to me, I have seen it happen to others. I recommend ditching the tiny red covers and sealing the magnets in using 5-minute Epoxy. I recommend doing this very carefully and making sure the polarity of the magnets are consistent with their original attracting orientation. Put a tiny dab on the bottom of the magnets and squish it in super hard so it spreads out to the sides. Then, cover the remaining space above the magnet with epoxy and scrape it flush with the top surface. If you go over a little bit, you can just sand it down flush. Then you can just paint it red or leave it as it is.
